Estrella
Approx. D.O.B. Dec. 2021. Found close to Pitillal; Miel and Estrella were found together close to pitillal in a neighborhood. The lady who found them, tried to catch them for many weeks. They were afraid but always back at the same place to eat. She provided water and food until she could can catch them. They were abandoned.
Jimbo now Pepper - Available in Edmonton, AB
Approx. D.O.B. January 2024. He is one of six puppies that were abandoned/found in a box in the Las Juntas intersection, left in the rain. Jimbo, is playful and healthy! From the home he is currently in: He’s currently crate trained when we leave the house and he sleeps in the crate at night. He’s mostly potty trained but we do have puppy pads in the house for our older Chihuahua so Pepper will occasionally use those. He very much dislikes cats! He likes to sit in your lap and nap and loves to play fetch. He’s great on walks and has a loving personality. I probably wouldn’t recommend kids younger than 5 just because he does nip a bit when playing. My youngest is 6. Not sure if he’ll outgrow that since he’s still a puppy.
Max - Available in Edmonton, AB
Approx. D.O.B. April 2022. While dropping food at the shelter yesterday and picking up Depot for a vet visit one of our founders drove by this little guy. A man was throwing water at him. She jumped out to assist but the dog ran behind a woman. So our founder kept on going. On the way back down the road the dog was there again following a boy. She pulled over and asked the boy if it was his dog. He said No. She called to the little guy and he ran right to her. So badly matted he had to be in terrible pain. He let her pick him up and put him in the car. He is skin and bones and is being treated for anemia.
Miel
Approx. D.O.B. February 2023. Found close to Pitillal; Miel and Estrella were found together close to pitillal in a neighborhood. The lady who found them, tried to catch them for many weeks. They were afraid but always back at the same place to eat. She provided water and food until she could can catch them. They were abandoned. Miel is an active girl. She can be shy at first but once she feels comfortable, she is the best, sweetest girl. When she is super happy to see you she likes to give a little chew. Not hard, just a nibble so could use training for that.
Peanut
Approx. D.O.B. June 20222. This little guy was found by a river in San Vicente and rescued. He’s a very delicate chihuahua with long legs. Seemed reasonably clean when found. He's a small and lovely dog. Loves to be close to people and is social and happy! He was adopted but the person returned him after 10 months as they had to move back to the USA and he wasn't house trained so they couldn't take him. He is hoping to find someone who can give him the tlc he deserves.
Pedrito
D.O.B. Approx. May 2020. Pedrito is a Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Pedrito is a special dog. He is super sweet and loves to be cuddled, but on his terms. If you touch him more than he wants he may try to bite. He is working with a trainor and will need someone who is willing to continue his training and help build up his confidence!
Polly - Available - Vancouver, BC
Approx. D.O.B. August 2021. When found, you could tell she had had a wire around her little neck. Bonita previously ( Polly) is a very sweet little doggy, who is super social, loves people, kids, other small dogs, gets along with friendly cats, she's very attached to her caregivers, loves to chew in bully sticks and prefers to eat dry kibble mixed with wet food.
She absolutely loves going for walks and adventures anywhere in a bag or sling, she enjoys the dog park and easily adapts to any situation, she is very loving once she trusts you. Most people say she's very well behaved and she is, the only issue is that she was tied outside when they rescued her so she deals with confusion about where to go pee. She's been crate trained, praised a lot and she is very slowly starting to get it. But the problem is that our home is all carpeted, we don't have other dogs she can learn from and I have 2 kids, work and healing from a chronic condition which makes this very stressful for me to be extremely invested in watching her every move. She still has a way to go to be fully trained to go outside.
She doesn't respond well to scolding. Only to praise. She needs someone who has more bandwidth to put in this work and be patient that it may take her a while. Laminate floors would be ideal.
we love her to pieces but unfortunately don't have the bandwidth to continue the potty training process in our carpeted apartment, even tho she has taken outside often she still has accidents inside.
Again someone with the bandwidth to work with her through this is ideal and in return you will get the most tender, sweet, tiny, cute, social, gentle and playful little pup.
Soruyo
Approx. D.O.B. July 2024. Mom & brothers were found close to Ameca River; Nobody helped them, their mom died, hit by 4 cars. All the other puppies died, but Soruyo survived! He is a little trooper! This little guy would make a wonderful addition to any family he would make a wonderful playmate and loyal companion he is very friendly playful and sure to win over your heart ❤
Yara - Adoption Pending - Chilliwack, B.C.
Approx. D.O.B. May 2017. Yara & 2 males were around OXXO/Rolcar/Mezcales area on their own. Yara is quiet and reserved. She needs time, space and patience to build trust with you, but given the time she needs she opens up and is a beautiful soul who loves to be pet, loves to be close, follows her person around and loves a cozy blanket.
Yara will sleep curled up next to you in bed, or just as easily in her own space such as a dog playpen area at night… but prefers the door to her pen left open- even though she doesn’t roam from the pen at night.
Yara can be vocal when left alone, and is working through some separation anxiety. She will need time and patience with this and really needs to be with someone who is home most of the time, or would bring her out with them as being alone seems to stress her out. she would do best in a house rather than a condo or attached style property. We think Yara would do best in a warmer climate due to her tiny size.
Yara also needs a yard or outdoor space where she can be free to use the bathroom without being hovered over- she will not go while on leash for the most part and doesn’t like to be watched and waited for. She likes to wander and explore her yard. When she has access to a yard she is house trained and does not have accidents.
She is learning to walk on leash and right now we really just let her do all the sniffing she wants and to learn at her own pace as it’s clear she is scared of new surroundings- which is understandable given her tiny size! She is grasping leash walking well… she is just slow with all the sniffing and getting comfortable.
Yara has spent time with two other fosters in the home she is in now. Both dogs were small like her and were younger at ages 1 and 3… she has done exceptionally well with them and we’ve only once seen her resource guard with her favorite squirrel toy.. and even then it was just a small growl and snap to tell the other pup that she was playing with the toy.
Yara has come so far in the last 5 weeks she has been with her foster and is a completely different dog after leaving the shelter!
Her current foster is happy to answer any and all questions about her demeanor and temperament and share information as needed.
